Every year the medieval village of Dunster turns back the clock and celebrates a traditional Christmas almost entirely lit by candlelight. A magical evening for all the family, with special train services to the event from Bishops Lydeard. Passengers have the choice of alighting from the train at Dunster station, from where there is a 20 minute walk to the village (please bring a torch) or you can continue to travel to Minehead where a dedicated free bus service is provided to the edge of Dunster. We cannot guarantee wheelchair access to the bus connection.

Trains Depart from Bishops Lydeard ONLY at:
15.45 steam train returning at 20.15 from Minehead (on Saturday only).
16.30 steam, train returning from Minehead at 20.30 and
17.30 steam train returning from Minehead at 21.30
You must travel on the designated trains.
Apart from Dunster, the train does not stop en-route to Minehead therefore all passengers must board the train at Bishops Lydeard.
Cost:£17.00 Adults and £8.50 children (aged 5-15)

Optional Fish and Chips

Why not warm yourself with a meal on the way to Dunster by Candlelight? On the 17.30 departure only, we are offering a limited number of hot meals. The price includes return travel from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, the free bus link to Dunster village, a meal of Fish and Chips or vegetarian Burger and Chips and a glass of wine (or non alcoholic alternative). Vouchers

Vouchers are available at this stage costing 50p which are exchangeable on the Dunster by Candlelight trains for the Dunster by Candlelight event programme which in the village on the night would cost £1. Vouchers are only available to passengers on the special trains who have booked in advance.
