The West Somerset Railway Mixed Traffic event is not to be missed.

This years event is themed Remembering the Western Regions Diesel Hydraulic's and will feature the WSR home based Hydraulic fleet as well as three guest engines from other Railways.

Steam power will also feature and a special guest will feature!

Catering

Bar and buffet facilities will be available throughout the Gala on most trains serving a very good range of high quality hot and cold food, tea/coffee and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. At Stations: refreshments including hot food will be available at principal stations including Bishops Lydeard, Williton, Watchet and Minehead.

The Quantock Belle

The Quantock Belle restaurant car service of the popular breakfast and other hot meals together with a bar and buffet service on every day of the Mixed Traffic Weekend. Details of diagrams will be added to this site when available.

Museums & Model Railways

The Gauge Museum at Bishops Lydeard, Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust museum at Washford and Blue Anchor Railway Museum will all be open. There is a Trackwork display at Crowcombe Heathfield. The Taunton Model Railway Group’s base at Bishops Lydeard will also be open (small separate admission charge payable).

Williton

At WILLITON you will have the chance to visit the excellent Diesel Heritage Centre, which features much information about the early Western Region diesels in particular. The shed/workshop of the Diesel & Electric Preservation Group will also be open, offering a rare glimpse inside, and several diesel locomotives will be on display in the yard, some of which can be ‘cabbed’. The D&EPG sheds and yard area will be open on all three days, 10am to 5pm.
Please note the engineering base of the WSRA, and the area around it, will NOT be open over the Mixed Traffic Weekend.

Souvenir Programme

Our new format colour souvenir programme which will include the complete working timetable & locomotive rosters for all three days will be available from 8th June from Minehead and at all stations during the event priced £2.50 per copy.

DMU Shuttles

On Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13 we will be running DMU shuttle services from Minehead towards Blue Anchor. On Sunday June 14 we will be running a DMU shuttle service from Bishops Lydeard to Norton Fitzwarren. More details will be added soon

Free Bus Link

A special FREE bus service linking Taunton station, the Park and Ride car park at Silk Mill and Bishops Lydeard station will run at least every 30 minutes on ALL THREE DAYS. The service will start from 09:30 collecting from under the Taunton Station bridge each day, with the last bus connecting with the final train arrival at Bishops Lydeard.

FX runs on Sat 13th and Sun 14th only. FXa Departs from Norton Fitzwarren at 12.05 runs non stop to Minehead Passengers need to board 11.40 departure from Bishops Lydeard.
DMU shuttles to operate from Minehead towards Blue Anchor on Friday 12th & Saturday 13th. DMU shuttles Bishops Lydeard-Norton Fitzwarren on Sunday 14th.
All timings and locomotive availability may be altered at short notice due to operational reasons.

Please note that ALL privilege tickets, free passes and voucher facilities will NOT apply at the Spring Steam Gala. Special Event fares apply to all passengers. Discounts are available on Rover Tickets purchased IN ADVANCE - see Booking Form.
