Williton
At WILLITON you will have the chance to visit the excellent Diesel Heritage Centre, which features much information about the early Western Region diesels in particular. The shed/workshop of the Diesel & Electric
Preservation Group will also be open, offering a rare glimpse inside, and several diesel locomotives will be on display in the yard, some of which can be ‘cabbed’. The D&EPG sheds and yard area will be open on all three days, 10am to 5pm.
Please note the engineering base of the WSRA, and the area around it, will NOT be open over the Mixed Traffic Weekend.
Souvenir Programme
A special souvenir programme - which will include the complete working timetables and the loco rosters for all three days - will be available in advance (from 9 June) and from stations over the event, priced £2.50
Catering
A full bar and buffet service will be available throughout the Gala on MOST trains.
Museums & Model Railways
The museums at Bishops Lydeard, Washford and Blue Anchor will all be open. Trackwork display at Crowcombe Heathfield. Taunton Model Railway Group’s base at Bishops Lydeard will also be open the three days.
Free Bus Link
A special FREE bus service linking Taunton Station, the Park and Ride car park at Silk Mill and Bishops Lydeard will run at least every 30 minutes on ALL THREE DAYS. The service will start from 0930 collecting from under the Taunton Station Bridge each day with the last bus connecting with the final train arrival at Bishops Lydeard.
In addition, FIRST buses run a half hourly service from adjacent to the down platform at Taunton. However this service is not free.
Shunter Shuttles
On Friday June 13 and Saturday June 14 we will be running 08 shuttle services from Bishops Lydeard towards Norton Fitzwarren and 03 shuttle services from Minehead towards Blue Anchor. See websites for full details.
