SUMMER HOLDIAYS ARE HERE!

The long summer holiday is here and we are running steam trains to the seaside on every day. Plus we have some great “day out” packages including the following:-

On every Wednesday and Saturday  catch the “Dunster Castle Express” from Bishops Lydeard. The ticket includes the return trip to and from Dunster station, admission to the castle and a coach link between our station and this National Trust property.

On some Fridays there is the “Lynton and Lynmouth Explorer”. Travel from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead for a coach journey across Exmoor with time in the lovely twin villages before the return coach and train trip.

Getting fed up as the morning is wearing on? Take the “Afternoon Watchet Explorer” from Bishops Lydeard to spend some time exploring the old harbour town before the return trip through the beautiful QuantocK Hills.

The West Somerset Railway Association is holding its annual Steam Fayre and Vintage Travel Rally at Rally Fields, Norton Fitzwarren, on August 4th and 5th. All sorts of vintage transport displays, refreshments, family entertainment and more, making for a full family day out. We have a special service leaving Minehead at 9.15am stopping at Blue Anchor, Watchet, Williton and Bishops Lydeard. The DMU will then provide FREE shuttles all day between Bishops Lydeard and  Norton Fitzwarren. The last service out of Norton Fitzwarren will be 17.10 and will make up our last service of the day from Bishops Lydeard. 

A family walk? Travel to Crowcombe Heathfield or Stogumber stations in the heart of the Quantock Hills and enjoy some home -made refreshments as well as the walk. Books of walks from our stations can be bought at the stations or from our online shop.

Watchet Carnival takes place on Sunday July 30th. As part of this the town centre is closed to traffic. Our station is right in the centre of Watchet, close to the harbour, so why not travel by train?

August 12th and 13th sees the Minehead Harbour Festival with Children’s entertainment and other activities at the harbour on the 12th and the annual raft race from Blue Anchor to Minehead on the 13th
