The Santa Express

Santa and Friend on the Santa Express

Travelling at great speed in a open sleigh as December 24 becomes December 25 is one thing but Santa also enjoys a ride on a steam train through the Somerset Countryside in winter. As the trains travel from Bishops Lydeard Station to Williton and back children will be greeted by Santa at their seats in the train and will receive a present suitable for their age and gender. For parents there is a traditional sherry (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a mince pie to enjoy along the journey and the festive atmosphere. The trains have a buffet car and the round trip takes about a hour and a half.

The trains will all depart from Bishops Lydeard on the dates above. The times for these trains will be:10.10 12.20 and 14.35.
All fares are inclusive return fares and cover travel, mince pies and seasonal refreshments for the adults and presents for the children.

Traditional Santa Steam Specials

These are intended for those who would prefer a shorter time on the train. The Specials run on selected dates through the Quantock Hills between Bishops Lydeard and Crowcombe Heathfield or along the Exmoor Coast between Minehead and Blue Anchor. This gives a 15 minute train ride to the destination where families go in to see Santa and a good blaze in the Grotto. The Children will receive a present suitable for their age and gender and for the parents there is a traditional sherry (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a mince pie to enjoy along the journey. The trains have a buffet car and train ride and visit takes about a hour and a half.

WIN TICKETS TO THE 2011 SANTA EVENT!
Every year the West Somerset Railway hold a Santa Competition and we look for the best photographs that have been taken to place in our 2011 Santa leaflet. Just think your child could be almost famous and on the front cover of next years leaflet. To enter please send in any photographs that you think should go in our leaflet to the address on the front of this leaflet. The photographs must have been taken on the 2009 Santa specials on the West Somerset Railway. Closing date for entries 31st March 2011. To enter please email your entry to sam.com@wsrail.net and include your name and contact details. If you are under 18 we must have parental consent to use your photograph.
