Our tickets explained

When buying your tickets in advance you must know the date that you wish to travel. Tickets are E-tickets and can be purchased up to 24 hours before you travel. Please refer to our FAQs for more information.

Adult Day Rovers:

If you are aged between 18 and 59 you will be classed as an adult on the West Somerset Railway and will require an adult ticket. Adult Rover tickets entitle you to unlimited travel on the railway for one whole day and can be purchased online in advance of travel. If you require any other adult ticket then these will need to be purchased on the day at the booking office.

Senior Day Rovers:

Our senior Rover tickets are for passengers over the age of 60 please let us know at the time of booking if you require a senior ticket so we can ensure you are charged the appropriate price.

Disabled Rate Rover.

Our disabled rate ticket applies to disabled passengers; we also permit one carer per person to travel at the same rate. If you will be bringing a wheelchair, please take a look at our accessibility guide for information on size and weight restrictions and information on our accessible coaches.

Child Rover.

On the West Somerset Railway our child ticket applies to those children aged 5 to 17 inclusive. Under 5's may travel for free when accompanied by a full paying adult. If you have 2 children over the age of 5 it might be more cost effective to purchase a family day rover.

Family Day Rover:

Our Family Day Rovers cover travel for either 2 adults and 2 children (aged 5-17) or for 1 adult and 3 children (aged 5-17).

Dog tickets:

We are a dog friendly railway. Tickets for dogs can be purchased for £2 for whatever journey you would like all we ask is that dogs remain on the floor of the carriages and do not travel on the seats. We also ask for dogs to not be in the buffet car or in any carriage where food is being served. This means that dogs are not permitted on any of our dining services or specials.

Disabled Passengers Fares

Passengers with a disability travel at a discount of 25% off the adult travel rate. There are no disabled concessions on our special services such as dining specials, combined ticket deals and Festive Fun services (Santa, Carol & Dunster by Candlelight). Please see our Accessible Guide.

Multi-Day Rover tickets

Two-consecutive days: Adults £36.00 and Young Persons £18.00.

Special Events/Services Fares

Event fares apply at all of our events. Please see the relevant event page for full fares information. Discount vouchers (including Tesco Vouchers) can not be used on special events and services (except Late Summer Weekend and Winter Steam Festival).

Bicycles.

Bicycles may be carried on the West Somerset Railway for a fee of £2 per bicycle providing there is enough space in the guards van. It is advisable therefore to contact us on 01643 704996 or email [email protected] to let us know your date and time of travel so we can let you know of any known complications before you travel. This also gives us the opportunity to make the train crews aware before your arrival.
