As the West Somerset Railway WSR nears the end of what has been a very busy, and much needed summer holiday period, planning for the WSRs Christmas plans is now well underway, including a brand new event for this year called Winterlights which runs on evenings.

The campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the important work heritage railways do for historic conservation, education, and research. The campaign also highlights the detrimental impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the nations heritage railways.

WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY OPENS UP FOR SUMMER WITH SUCCESSFUL VINTAGE BUS LINK TO MINEHEAD

Last Friday (16 July) saw the start of West Somerset Railway (WSR) steam trains running almost the full length of the line from Bishops Lydeard through to Dunster again which linked up with a small fleet of heritage buses travelling onwards to Minehead, and then returning later in the day.

First Gala events in almost two years lined up for the WSR

The West Somerset Railway (WSR) Gala Planning Team is pleased to confirm that two small gala events are being planned for September and October 2021 as Government Covid restrictions are hopefully further eased later this month. These will be the first enthusiast gala events held at the WSR in almost two years since the winter steam event in December 2019!
