Performance of Charles Dickens "The Signalman" at Minehead Station on Friday 4th September 2026

As the haunting cry echoes across the railway, audiences are invited to experience one of Charles Dickens' most chilling tales in one of the South West's most atmospheric locations.

Pleasure Dome Theatre, renowned for creating unforgettable site-specific productions in partnership with the Landmark Theatre, presents The Signalman – Dickens' classic supernatural thriller, adapted by Jonathan Holloway and directed by Scott Le Crass.

Starring Gerald Dickens, the great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens, alongside Ben Fensome and a talented ensemble of professional and community performers, this powerful South West retelling explores themes of mental health, loss and rural isolation. Drawing inspiration from the impact of the Beeching cuts on local communities, the production reimagines Dickens' ghostly masterpiece against a railway backdrop that feels uncannily authentic.

And what better setting than Minehead Station, where the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the historic West Somerset Railway bring the story thrillingly to life? As darkness falls and steam hangs in the evening air, audiences will find themselves immersed in a world where reality and the supernatural blur.

Returning to the company's roots in atmospheric storytelling, Pleasure Dome Theatre's acclaimed production arrives at Minehead Station for just two performances on Friday 4 September 2026:

3.00pm Family Performance – specially tailored for families and younger audiences.

8.00pm Evening Performance – a darker, more atmospheric experience in the unique surroundings of the station after hours.
