Duration: All Day - on standard timetabled services only. This ticket is not valid on any services hauled by visiting locomotive 'Sir Nigel Gresley'.
Location: You can start your journey from any of our stations.
Booking: Rover Tickets can be purchased online up to 10pm the day before travel.

Dogs: We welcome well-behaved dogs, but please ask that paws remain on the floor at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the buffet car or carriages where catering is being served.

Our line meanders through the Quantock Hills and along the Exmoor Coast. We have 10 idyllic stations with plenty of areas to explore, details of each of our stations can be found here on our website your rover ticket allows you the opportunity to visit multiple stations providing the timetable allows. Our rover ticket is the same price as a full length of the line return.  

Please be aware that the time stated on your ticket is generic - your ticket is valid for the whole day on any standard service that we are running on your chosen day of travel. Please note that Rover Tickets are not valid on any service hauled by visiting locomotive 'Sir Nigel Gresley'.

As we reserve the right to amend our timetables at short notice, please ensure you check the timetable for your date of travel one week before you are due to travel and on the day so that you are aware of any changes. 

Please note that Rover Tickets can be purchased online in advance up to 10pm the night before your date of travel.

If you are wishing to purchase tickets for same day travel, your tickets can be purchased from the Booking Office when you arrive or from the Travelling Ticket Inspector on the train, we accept card or cash on board the trains. 

Please note: Registered carers can travel for free when accompanying a full paying passenger, your ticket can be booked online however we will require proof of your carer status to be presented alongside your ticket on the day of travel when your tickets are checked by our travelling ticket inspectors. Alternative Journeys

As you can imagine with 10 wonderful stations to visit on our line, there are many different journeys that can be taken.

We offer single journeys from any one station to another and return journeys are also available. These tickets can only be purchased on the day from a booking office or from a Travelling Ticket Inspector on the train itself.

Carer Tickets

We value our passengers and want to ensure that everyone has a wonderful day out with us. Therefore, passengers with accessible needs who require carers to travel with them, are entitled to free carer tickets.

You can reserve your free carer tickets online when purchasing your tickets for travel or from the booking office on the day, please note we have a limited number of accessible spaces on our services for wheelchair passengers.

When you arrive for your days travel, please ensure you have one of the following with you, this will need to be shown to the travelling ticket inspector along with your ticket on board the train, or at the booking office when buying your tickets on the day.

  • Entitlement to Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independent Payments PIP either by way of a letter or allowance book.
  • Attendance allowance or carers allowance letter of award.
  • Incapacity Benefit Books, or letter notifying the recipient that the benefit has been awarded incapacity benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Disability Student Allowance (DSA), or DID card (UK Disabled Card)
  • A valid blue badge
  • In the case of visual impairment, a registration card known as the BD8 or a certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI)
  • Credibility Access Card with the carer companion symbol.
  • An international equivalent to the above.
  • A National Carer's Card
  • Disabled Persons Railcard (Network Rail)

Failure to supply one of the above on board the train will result in the carer being charged the full on the day fare.

Ticket Terms and Conditions

1. This ticket is issued subject to the Rules and Regulations of the West Somerset Railway PLC. Full details are available on request.

2. Please check your tickets as mistakes cannot be rectified.

3. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to ascertain whether a service has been cancelled and the date and time of any rearranged service. If a service is cancelled or rescheduled, we will use reasonable endeavours to notify ticket holders of the cancellation once we have received the relevant authorisation from the West Somerset Railway PLC. Please note that we cannot guarantee that ticket holders will be informed of such cancellation before the date of travel.

4. The management reserves the right to refuse admission should patrons breach any Rules and Regulations of the West Somerset Railway PLC. The management may on occasions have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.

5. A £5 administration fee per booking will be charged for any subsequent booking alterations this means administration changes. We are unable to make date changes to your booking. No refunds will be given once tickets are issued. The Management cannot be held responsible for any tickets which are lost or stolen. West Somerset Railway PLC reserves the right to cancel ticket bookings which it reasonably suspects to have been made fraudulently.

6. The West Somerset Railway PLC operates a No Smoking policy this includes e-cigarettes.

7. The unauthorized use of photographic and recording equipment for public use is prohibited.

8. The West Somerset Railway PLC accepts no responsibility for any personal property.

9. Ticket holders consent to filming and sound recording as visitors.

10. If a service is rescheduled, ticket holders will be offered tickets to the rescheduled service, equivalent to the face value of the ticket. If a service is cancelled, ticket holders will be offered travel on an alternative service (subject to availability) up to the value on the ticket.

11. Purchase of a ticket does not guarantee a seat unless otherwise stated.

12. All of these terms and conditions are governed by English Law.

13. The ticket holder must comply with all relevant statutes, safety announcements and West Somerset Railway PLC regulations whilst visiting the railway.

14. Breach of any of these conditions or any unacceptable behaviour likely to cause damage, nuisance or injury shall enable the railway to refuse to carry you as a passenger.

15. Tickets may be restricted to a maximum number per person. We reserve the right to cancel tickets purchased in excess of this number.

4. Additional Conditions applicable to Bicycles, Perambulators and Animals

  • a) Passengers may take with them by train, bicycles, perambulators, push chairs, cats, dogs, or other small and inoffensive animals and birds and such articles as the Company may from time to time permit to be taken on payment of extra charges as applicable and providing the Company has suitable accommodation. These are carried at the company's discretion and their decision is final.
  • b) Animals are not allowed upon passenger's seating accommodation. They must remain on the floor at all times.
  • c) For reasons of hygiene, animals are not permitted in catering vehicles or in any carriage where pre-booked catering is being served. This condition will not apply to assistance dogs accompanying registered persons.
