Summer Diesel Festival - Brake Van Rides

This Summer Diesel Gala we will be offering the rare opportunity to travel in the brake van within the heritage freight train for ticket holders.

The timings and start locations of these brake van rides differ on selected dates during our Summer Diesel Festival, so please pay particular attention to the timetable downloads to ensure you are in the right place at the right time.

For brake van rides for the full length of the line from either Bishops Lydeard to Minehead or Minehead to Bishops Lydeard the cost will be £15 per person

For brake van rides from Minehead to Blue Anchor return the cost will be £10 per person.

For brake van rides from Bishops Lydeard to Norton Fitzwarrren return the cost will be £5 per person.

Spaces will be limited and strictly on a first come, first served basis and can only be purchased on the day from the ticket inspector on board the brake van. Terms and conditions can be found below. Please ensure you arrive in good time to avoid disappointment.

Please note that a ticket to travel will also be required to ensure you are able to get back to your start station.

The following Terms and Conditions are deemed accepted by anyone purchasing a WSR Summer Diesel Festival brake van ride:

- You must be in possession of a Summer Diesel Festival rover, return or single ticket for the same day. Travel will only be allowed on presentation of a valid ticket.

- Age limit: 18 Years +

- Passengers must be physically able to board and alight the brake van unassisted.

- Alcohol must not be consumed prior to or during your brake van ride

- No toilet facilities are available on the brake vans

- No catering facilities are available on the brake vans

- These are working heritage Brake Vans, and so the WSR will take no liability for any damage to clothing or personal possessions Any member of WSR staff can refuse travel to anyone not compliant or unfit to travel.

Due to the age and design of the Brake Vans, we are unable to accept people who require the assistance of a mobility scooter/walking aid or wheelchair.

Please note you will require an additional ticket to travel on any other service over the weekend of the Summer Diesel Festival. 

We reserve the right to cancel the brake van rides at short notice if this is necessary due to operational reasons.
